Many of our users have asked for two features, which we were just rapid prototyping:
The ability to pre-define an "output template" (like a meeting summary structure) for Storytell to use
Having a "prompt library" of top / most useful prompts to use when engaging with Storytell chat
Here's a 3 minute video of how this could work -- we'd love to get your feedback -- you can comment below this post or email feedback@storytell.ai :
And if you'd like to become an official beta tester, here's how to sign up.
@Pierre Tapia @mike d. kail @flav @Daisy Warren Thank you all again so much for your feedback! I wanted to share an update on what we've built for our Chrome Extension: the first iteration of a prompt library! Users can see our trending prompts (a couple of these were submitted by some of you), and edit them or send them right into the chat. We plan to build the user-based prompt library where you'll see your saved prompts soon. Here's a demo of what we have now:
If you want to try this new version out, it is here: https://go.storytell.ai/prod-builds (I've listed instructions on how to install an extension from a zip file below. Would love to get any feedback you have. Thank you in advance!
How to install an extension from a zip: 1. Download the Zip file and unzip it
2. Go to chrome://extensions/
3. Turn on “Developer Mode” by clicking the toggle in the top right corner
4. Click “Load Unpacked” in the top left corner
5. Select the unzipped build folder you downloaded in step 1
6. The extension is installed! To pin it to your extension bar, click the puzzle piece in the top-right corner of your browser, then click the pin icon next to the storytell.ai extension
7. Click the Storytell icon in your extension bar to make the sidebar appear or visit a page that already has a Storytell report
Love the template concept and perhaps this is asking too much, but if the chat interface could take actionable input and 'tweak' the template in real time based upon some parameters, that would be amazing. Typing out loud, think about a generic DevOps post-mortem template that you want to be configurable/extensible via interactions with your ChatBot.
fabulous progress! thought starters,
when we talk about output templates, which taxonomy are we envisioning? https://capture.dropbox.com/MjlTTHkYrdg0fnPW
1'05" at this point the output template sounds like column A on the screenshot above.
1'46" at this point it sounded like column B on the screenshot above, i may be projecting. i seem to lean towards this option, although that is a testable proposition.
2'26 either way, when chat is open, the prompt library felt really useful to me. part of the UX challenge pertains to not necessarily knowing what type of output i'll get from a prompt without experiment first—i.e., if the library suggests 'fibonacci scale', or 'gradient of agreements', i may not know what i'll get until i try.
and this comment may be of even more relevance as the platform grows into outputting formatted prompts, like these (arbitrary examples) https://capture.dropbox.com/3vlZocyLzt8O2pZ7 or https://capture.dropbox.com/hkdRXicE2iMiOyAk or https://capture.dropbox.com/YMLmEQhBbO9wnahu at which point having the marketplace organized by output as opposed to prompt may make more sense. (i recently bought an image prompt on https://promptbase.com by perusing outputs. i saw the output i liked, and unlocked a prompt. i would not be able to reverse-engineer the prompt by looking at an output. i know text is a different game but the logic may still apply to both formatted and unformatted output templates)
what are your thoughts? subscribed to this and want to see how it develops!
Initial Thoughts I think the relationship between fulfilling a want/need while leaving space for exploration is what makes playing with AI interesting. I like how the addition of an Output Template feature is more wants and needs oriented and the Prompt Library feels more like a discovery zone. Moving Forward I'm looking forward to seeing how this rolls out. This extension would be bumped up to a tool I'd use on a more regular basis with the Output Template feature alone. I'm all in for the opportunity to define content specific templates as it'd allow me to move through content more intentionally and quicker. I also second Pierre's thought of loving a default template. Great idea!
@flav @mike d. kail @Pierre Tapia @Daisy Warren In our latest Chrome Extension update (v1.1.1), you will now have the ability to save prompts to your own prompt library! Once you send a message in chat, you can click it, give it a name, and save it to your library. Here's a demo https://share.getcloudapp.com/kpuAempg As always, we'd appreciate any feedback you have. This version of the Chrome Extension is live, so if you restart your browser it should update to v1.1.1. Thanks for checking it out!
I love the idea of Output Templates and am excited to see progress on the concept of the Prompt Library! Some feedback below. Re: The Output Template: - I'd love to be able to set a default Output Template so that I can more quickly see syntheses in the structure/format that I want - I'm curious what the relationship between the prompt library and the Output Templates might be. I might define a badass Output Template that I'd also like to use as a prompt or vice versa. Re: The Prompt Library: - Having my own personal prompt library is great, having a public prompt library that I can browse/search would be even better, so that I can get inspiration for prompts and see how other people are maximizing AI on their content.
Thank you so much for the feedback @mike d. kail @flav @Daisy Warren @Pierre Tapia! We are humbled that you would take the time to help make Storytell better. DROdio and I had a prototyping session today where we built off of the things you mentioned you would want regarding a prompt library and output template. The video of the result of this session is below. In the video we cover:
Prompt vs output template definition and how we've modified our thinking around that
ability to inject variables
having a prompt marketplace
how prompts can be integrated into a dashboard
We would love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks so much for your feedback, Pierre!! This is a great question "I'm curious what the relationship between the prompt library and the Output Templates might be. I might define a badass Output Template that I'd also like to use as a prompt or vice versa."
DROdio and I just dug into your feedback and have some questions for you here:
