There are a number of reasons why Storytell may not be processing. Here's how to troubleshoot:
STORYTELL BOT IS NOT ON THE CHANNEL
One reason why Storytell may not be processing is that the Storytell bot is not in the Slack channel. How to check if Storytell is in your Slack channel 1. On the upper right corner of your Slack channel, you can see the members in your Slack channel. Click on that.

2. A window will pop up. Click the Integrations tab. Under the Apps sections, you should see Storytell.

What to do if Storytell is not in your Slack channel There are two ways you can add Storytell to your channel: First Option: Add via Integrations Tab 1. On the upper right corner of your Slack channel, click on members like you did above. 2. In the Integrations tab, click the Add an App button. 3. Look for Storytell App, then click Add. 4. From here, you can now drop your content and Storytell should be able to run on it. Second Option: Mention @Storytell 1. Mention @Storytell in your chat box and hit enter. 2. A message saying “You mentioned @Storytell, but they’re not in this private channel” will pop up. Click the button that says “Invite them” to add Storytell to your channel. 3. Now Storytell is ready to process the content you add to the channel
THE CONTENT YOU DROPPED IN SLACK IS NOT SUPPORTED
Another possible reason why the content you dropped is not being processed by Storytell is that the file type or the URL of the website you’re trying to upload is not an integration we currently support.
Currently, the following types of content are not yet supported by Storytell:
PDF documents
Microsoft Office documents
URL to Google docs
URL of websites and blog sites
Google meet
Vimeo links
URL of video streaming platform other than Youtube
YOUTUBE VIDEO DOESN'T HAVE CLOSED CAPTIONS
Currently, Storytell cannot process Youtube videos without closed captions. If you drop a Youtube video without closed captions, Storytell will likely show this error message
Cannot find an automatic caption for this video, skipping transcript now.
and
Cannot find the caption from Youtube. Right now, we only support Youtube videos with captions.

Workaround
Download the YouTube as a MP4 with a third-party Youtube to MP4 converter. Upload the MP4 to Slack and Storytell will process it using speech recognition.
You can check our post here on how to upload an MP4 file <insert link once posted>
STORYTELL ISN'T RUNNING ON THIS ZOOM LINK
You can download the text from the transcript (only if enabled by your Zoom account) OR download the video itself and run Storytell on the downloaded file.
STORYTELL STARTED PROCESSING BUT STOPPED MIDWAY
There are instances when Storytell starts processing but suddenly stops. Sometimes, it will leave a message like:
Starting to process <URL>

But sometimes it will not. The processing message occasionally disappears.
This often means there's something wrong with the cached version of the report. Try this to find out if you can get around this:
Troubleshooting steps
1. In your chat box, type -ignore_cache then drop the content you want Storytell to process. It should look something like this

2. From here, it should work as normal
3. Still not working? Please report it as a bug and explain what's happening
